We have an opportunity for a Head of Estates with managerial, professional and technical experience to manage the strategic services, including property management, estate capital planning/procurement, design management, the property database and environmental management for the NHS.

You will act as a single point of contact for day to day issues of estate capital procurement and, with the Director of Strategy & Sustainability, will be responsible for the maintenance and development of a modern and flexible property portfolio that supports service delivery and patient care.

You will be responsible for ensuring that information and management systems relating to the Trust’s property portfolio are developed to achieve current, and future, needs and that mandatory central information returns are completed in a timely and accurate fashion. You must also be able to overseeing the development of the Trust’s Estates Strategy/Plan (Including Environment Strategy and carbon reduction).

To successfully apply for this role you will need a minimum of 5 years relevant estates management experience at a Senior level in a large complex organisation (preferably NHS) with evidence of effective management of staff and budgets. You should hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Building, Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering or equivalent. You must also be a Member of an appropriate Professional/chartered Institute and have evidence of continuing Professional Development. A Prince 2 accreditation would be advantageous.

You must also be able to demonstrate experience of writing and presenting complex reports pertaining to the range of highly specialist Estates and Facilities Services provided within the healthcare community. You must also have detailed understanding of project management, design and contractual processes including procurement methods such as PFI – LIFT – Procure 21.

You must possess the ability to manage significant revenue budget, tender for services including capital procurement schemes and be able to analyse a range of complex options and identify a preferred course of action.
